Hinchinbrook Island is nestled between Townsville and Cairns, in Tropical Far North Queensland and is home to some of the toughest tropical species in Australia and is at the doorstep to some of the most productive offshore waters along the Queensland coast.

What to expect on OUR FISHING CHARTERS


Westo operates a custom 6.2 metre vessel built by SIC Plate  Boats which is powered by a Suzuki 200hp outboard.., This makes it the ultimate estuary/offshore fishing weapon for a maximum of four anglers.

FISHING Equipment:

Our fishing charters provide premium quality rods handcrafted by Aaron McKell owner of ACM Custom Rods. Each rod is meticulously designed and built by Aaron to specifically meet each set purpose (dependent on technique and conditions) and is matched with a Shimano reel chosen and regularly re-spooled with premium braid/line. Feel free to bring your own if you have a favourite, however don’t stress we have you covered. Please note we do not supply fly fishing gear and tackle.

Whether you are fishing within the confines of the breath-taking scenery of Hinchinbrook Channel. Or, encapsulated by the majestic Great Barrier Reef, we promise a mind-blowing experience and hopefully a few piscatorial wonders along the way.


Westo is focused on conservation & fishing sustainability.  We encourage all trophy sized fish of any species that maybe vitality important to the breeding of the species be released (after a cracking photo of course). This is about the experience of catching the fish of a lifetime and the joy of watching her swim away fish.



Remember that Far North Queensland can be HOT and humid so a hat, preferred sunscreen (sunscreen provided) and long sleeved shirts are advisable especially if unaccustomed to tropical North Queensland conditions.

Westofish Sportfishing shirts and caps can also be purchased at a discounted rate for all charter clients.

Your preferred lunch, and alcoholic refreshments if desired (Please appreciate that alcohol consumption should be kept to a moderate level). Cold bottled water and a variety of soft drinks are provided.

Camera and any other personal effects e.g. spray jacket. Westo will take photo's and video while on charter which will be forwarded onto you upon completion of the day for you to brag to your mates.

All equipment will be supplied. However, Fly Fishing gear and tackle if preferred will have to be provided.


Charter pricing per day including GST is based on the number of anglers (maximum of 4).

Inshore/Esturary Rates:

2 anglers – $415 per person ($830 per day)

3 anglers – $320 per person ($960 per day)

4 anglers – $260 per person ($1040 per day)

Minimum price for the vessel (e.g. 1 angler) is $750 per day.

Offshore Rates:

2 anglers – $445 per person ($890 per day)

3 anglers – $350 per person ($1050 per day)

4 anglers – $290 per person ($1160 per day)

Minimum price for the vessel (e.g. 1 angler) is $780 per day.

Terms and Conditions

  • We require immediate payment at the conclusion of the charter period. 20% deposit required for all charters. The deposit will be refunded if the trip is cancelled for bad weather and you choose not to reschedule 
  • Please note that lost lures will incur a $15.00 fee per lure.
